The latest exhibition at FOAM Amsterdam offers a glimpse into the wealth of contemporary photographers, we present you our favourite of the new generation of the leading image-makers.

A new group exhibition ‘Don’t Stop Now: Fashion Photography Next’ opens in Amsterdam later this month featuring images by a collection of individuals that are considered to be a new generation of photographers of fashion, creating ground-breaking work and following in the footsteps of famed colleagues of the established order, such as Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Jürgen Teller or Inez & Vinoodh.

Organised by Foam Amsterdam and in collaboration with guest curator Magdalene Keaney, the exhibition offers an exciting glimpse into the wealth of contemporary practices in fashion photography, resulting in a dynamic, colourful and multi-faceted presentation. The title is intended as a positive statement regarding the work of these young photographers, deriving from their current qualities and focused on a promising future.

This new wave of artists follows a singular stylistic path and is, at the same time, able to stress the individual peculiarities of their work, wisely combining tradition and new technological tools. Analogue and digital confront each other, representing diverse devices to develop ideas and keep moments alive. Framed photographs, collages, polaroids, photo installations, videos and books featuring still lifes, landscapes and portraits are made to last more than a single magazine issue. The romantic and dark shots of Julia Hetta, young urban style depicted by Tyrone Lebon, formal neatness of Hanna Putz and genuine and ironic, somehow punk, always cool images by Tung Walsh and Ruvan Wijesooriya (among the others) will be on view at Foam museum in Amsterdam until September 7th. If you are around, don’t miss it.

Foam Gallery, Keizersgracht 609, 1017 DS Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Exhibition dates: 10th July – 7th September 2014

Opening times: Sat – Wed: 10:00am – 6:00pm; Thurs & Fri: 10:00am – 9:00pm

Fashion Photography Next by Magdalene Keaney (Thames & Hudson) is released on the 28th July.
