There is a warm feeling when we remember the good old days, where it might have been, something that relatives brought us memory. That’s the feeling that enveloped us when attending Nikicio Fall 2014/15 Presentation. Present at the time just like attending a banquet to mark the 7 year career of Nina Nikicio. From season-to-season she always be the highlight, from creating an influence to most of her subtle pieces, this time she brought us to look ahead through the mirror while holding traces her career since 2007.

On this occasion “Kenduri” was named as major theme for Nikicio Fall 2014/15 collection. Kenduri means a banguet or share sustenance and ask for blessing, in bahasa known as “Selamatan”. The design consists of 25 looks, Nina illustrates Kenduri with color selection of monochrome, playing around with black, white, and gray tones as always. Simplicity give harmony to the colors. There is a form of assertiveness, not kidding, the characters are conveyed through the design of its newest. Things that actually draw from the presentation is the simplicity itself, similar as some clothes that concerns us, it’s not a structured shirts or dresses but it’s more common as knitted sweater in gray or long sleeve modal T-Shirt. Such as complimentary, Nina always applied something to her signature look, this time includes a contradiction and the surprise factor, like high and low, or heavy on something light, that can be seen in the additional Klompen – Indonesian traditional sandals made of wood and often found in mosques was chosen as a display footwear.

Over the last few years, she had the opportunity to share her stories in each collection. A story of whim and humor. A story that might tell and inspire. But this time she delivered with few words, but rather more sincere and honest. As notes probably we can learn something from her, in commemorating something does not need to be necessarily fancy, but quite permeates and interpret the meaning of the event very well.
