Proenza Schouler showcased its Fall 2013 collection as a ladylike with a minimalist approach. It was a mixture of classic with an injection of futuristic fell for this fall. A very interesting approached that McCollough and Hernandez presents this season. The inspiration comes from the work of Los Angeles photographer John Divola, whose ‘Zuma’ series captured the slow decay of beachside structure. From this starting point, both of the designers come up with deconstruction look yet still trendy. The highlights was on texture mixing in palette such as shades of ivory, pale mint, and peach on top of black as its dominating color. With silhouette like round forms of coats and jackets that kind of adapting Cristobel Balenciaga’s look, furry floosy skirt, laser cut dress with huge leather belt that emphasize the elegance yet edgy style. It’s witty that the whole combination of technical process and final outcomes has achieved a strong yet attractive look. We might say a very well thought collection that McCollough and Hernandez offer to its audience this fall. (Text Dinta Jakile)
