DEW Magazine #18 Cinematic Issue – 5th Anniversary Edition: A celebration of emerging talent, personalities and ideas in cinematic theme.

Do you remember the first DEW issue you ever read? And if so, how did it make you feel? Publishing my first issue as an apprentice in 2010 was the start of our journey that led us up to the present day. Unlike many others I believe, DEW offered a new wave of looking at the world. Jam packed- with people, personalities and ideas, it was international, enlightening, thought provoking and sometimes so downright bonkers it totally blew our mind! 5 years since it launched and DEW still continues to inspire future generations of talent in the same unique way – surely the best of submissioning and commissioning talent, maybe there’s something incredibly special about DEW that people want to be a part of. Today, we have entered an exciting new chapter as a digital-first media brand – our family spirit remained still flows through everything we do. With new recruits passing through the magazine’s doors each issue, our search of emerging talent continues to thrive, and for budding photographers, stylists, make-up artists, and writers, there is still no better publication at which to cut your teeth in Indonesia. To mark DEW’s 5-year journey, we bring you what the magazine does best: a celebration of emerging talent, personalities and ideas in cinematic theme. It was our great pleasure to work with many of young talent from across the globe. We present you 3 covers in different perspective of cinematic theme. Yuji Watanabe, a much loved friend of DEW’s, shoot one of our cover in brilliantly awkward way, whereas our new Japanese contributors Ko-ta Shouji shoot other cover in more deep cinematic approach. There’s something for everyone, we invited 2 of our favourite Indonesian actors and actresses at the moment, and they are Abimana Aryasatya and Mentari De Marelle. We interviewed the actor behind Catatan (Harian) Si BoyBelenggu, 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa and Haji Backpacker whose vision has made us in awe without hesitation, whereas the other young actress graced our third cover with her animated and charming personality. Teamwork makes the dream work at DEW, and we couldn’t do anything without the hard work and talent of our contributors. We invited the photographers, stylists, writers, hair stylists, make-up artists and editors whose vision has helped shape DEW become a better digital media platform today. These are the people inspiring us, whose names you need to know, and others who you now and love already, who continue to create trailblazing work year after year. In this issue we also have an exclusive opportunity to reveal Toton the Label fall/winter 2015 collection. So be quick and flip our pages to be excited with the breadth of talent coming out of the industry today. Happy birthday DEW! (Text Teuku Ajie)
