Everything We Know About Yorgos Lanthimos’ Next Film After Big Oscar Win with Emma Stone. Hot off the success of ‘Poor Things,’ Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos are teaming up once again with a unique anthology film.

We’ve barely caught our breath after Poor Things, which cleaned up at the 2024 Oscars, and yet Yorgos Lanthimos has announced another project with Emma Stone. The kicker? It’s set to premiere in less than three months.

Coming off her second Academy Award win for her performance in Poor Things, many are looking forward to what Stone has up her sleeve next. From the film’s impressive ensemble cast and intriguing plot, here is everything we know about Kinds of Kindness.

Is there a release date for Kinds of Kindness?

Searchlight pictures has announced that Kinds of Kindness will debut in theatres on 21 June, 2024. Its opening weekend will collide with the premiere of other anticipated titles like It Ends With Us and The Bikeriders – though we know which one we’ll be watching first.

Lanthimos further cements his creative partnership with Emma Stone by casting her in the film’s ensemble cast. It will be the fourth film the pair has worked on together, including previous titles Poor Things, The Favourite and Bleat. Like Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, it looks like this is a collaboration that will continue to play out for many movies to come.

Stone will be joined by fellow Poor Things cast members Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, along with powerhouses like Jesse Plemons (Killers of the Flower Moon), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite), Hong Chau (The Whale), and Mamoudou Athie (Elemental).

What is the plot of Kinds of Kindness?

While little is known of the story, at the Golden Globes Lanthimos divulged that Kinds of Kindness will encompass three stories. Within each story, the core cast will transform into a different character – and by the end, each actor will have played three different roles.

It’s an exciting premise, and speculation has suggested that Lanthimos has timed the release to line up with a premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The last Lanthimos film to head to Cannes was The Killing of A Sacred Deer in 2017, where it competed for the Palme d’Or and won Best Screenplay.
