This fall 2013, Mary Katrantzou was shifting from bright color prints to monochrome meteoric pattern this season. Inspired by the early twentieth century photographvures like Edward Steichen and Alfred Stieglitz. This season, Katrantzou was playing around with their black and white imageries and transform it to her own interpretation of their work through the clothes. It was very impressive to see how the designer’s constructed it to one whole look. Images such as tram-lined cobblestones, misty moonlight were packaged in a very strong and impressively beautiful. Katrantzou also played around asymmetrical silhouette that looks like origami. Palette such as smoky grays, blues, and rusts were combined to results such a melancholy monochrome. These colors that dominates the materials like structured satin and billowing chiffons that converted the graphical prints into such a powerful yet moody collection. (Text Dinta Jakile)
