MAZUKI embraces dreaminess in their latest collection. The contemporary unisex label making its first appearance in the Jakarta Fashion Week with an ethereal statement.

The contemporary unisex label based in Jakarta, MAZUKI, showcased their latest collection, “Collection 05: MOON”, making its first appearance in the Jakarta Fashion Week. The collection took inspiration from the dreaminess of the moon and a man associated with themes of joy, harmony, and togetherness.

The story told is a tale of love of a man and the moon. With the man wishing he could love the moon forever, his longing soon ensured. Presented in a short piece (see below), the story sets a very melancholic yet ethereal tone to the collection.

The pieces placed attention to the tone-down colors with an array of textures, techniques drawn into familiar pieces. These include: casual shirts, loose baggy shorts, dress pants, double breasted jackets. Occasional silk dresses, illustrated tops make up a rather playful addition to the collection. Warm colors of brown, lemon green, olive green, as well as satin-like red orange were the dominant palette to the collection. A variety of lightweight materials such as cotton linen, tencel, and cotton are used to create comfort, making them an ideal everyday wear amid Jakarta’s humid air.

Although the brand has only made its appearance two years ago, MAZUKI is contemporary, progressive and modern. The brand cuts through with what seems familiar and presented them through a unique interpretation. A simple white shirt may have elements of graphics to portray “the moon” and even slits to give it more statement. While other pieces were experimental enough that one could see themselves wearing them differently every time. That element of surprise and interest will appear as we see the collection looking conventional but with a twist. MAZUKI’s MOON pieces are definitely worth waiting for; comfortable and familiar, yet modern and unique in its own ways.

ABOUT COLLECTION 05: MOON

This is a story about a man and the moon. A man flew to the moon and fell irrevocably in love with the moon. It was his first time on the moon but he felt home. The man didn’t want to leave the moon but the moon was not a place for men. With not much supply left for him to live on the Moon, the man left the moon with a heavy heart. He took a fragment of the moon because he wants the moon to be with him at all times. Now back on Earth, the man misses the moon. He would lay down every night to serenade to the moon. The man is sure of his love for the moon. But how far would you go for love? What if the moon is a place for men? Would it be the same or a different kind of love?
